The Kendriya
Vidyalayas are run by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, an
autonomous body formed by the Ministry of Education, (H.R.D.)
Govt. of India, New Delhi, as a result of the recommendation of
the Second Pay Commission. They primarily cater to the
educational needs of the children of Central Govt. Employees
including Defence Personal and floating population liable to
frequent transfers through out the country. Needless to say,
therefore, they have common syllabus and are affiliated to the
Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.
Every school, hence is a ‘Miniature India’ in itself and ties to
inculcate in its students feelings of patriotism, brotherhood
and national integration.
Place chosen for establishing Kendriya Vidyalayas are those
having concentration of Defence Personnel and other transferable
Central Govt. Employees For admission the Vidyalaya give
priority to the children of transferable Defence Personnel,
Central Govt. Employees and personnel of All India Service, but
other floating population desirous of having such common pattern
of education are also eligible for admission to the remaining
seats. The instruction is imparted through the media of Hindi
and English in these Vidyalaya, the ultimate object being to
enable pupils to achieve a reasonable measure of proficiency in
both the languages. The Vidyalayas prepare pupils for All India
Secondary School Examination and Senior School Certificate
Examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary
Education, New Delhi.
The Vidyalayas are being developed as Quality Vidyalayas with
some of the useful features of popular residential Vidyalaya;
without making the schooling very expensive. The quality of
teaching is kept reasonably high by an appropriate teacher-pupil
ratio and provision of a suitable proportion of teachers with
high qualifications.
The Kendriya Vidyalaya aim at having not only a common syllabus
but also a well prepared syllabus and good textbooks based on
that syllabus. They are intended to be equipped with good
libraries, good laboratories and variety of other useful
co-curricular activities.
The Vidyalaya provide for the studies of Commerce, Humanities
and Science and many of them are multi-purpose in character
providing for diversified courses.
Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has already adopted the new pattern
of School Education i.e. 10+2 pattern.
KENDRIYA VIDYALAYA PANAGARH
This Kendriya Vidyalaya Panagarh, which was opened in 1966 as a
project school, had been the prime gem in the crown of the
Sangathan. Now it is a 2-sectioned school running all the three
streams Science, Arts and Commerce from class I to XII. It’s
having 1085 students, served by a highly qualified and
well-learned team of 60 staffs.
MISSION
"To cater to the educational needs of children of transferable
Central Government employees including Defence and Para-military
personnel by providing a common programme of education; To
pursue excellence and set the pace in the field of school
education; To initiate and promote experimentation and
innovations in education in collaboration with other bodies like
the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the National
Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) etc. and To
develop the spirit of national integration and create a sense of
“Indianness” among children."

At the time of admission to class I, the child should complete 5
years on 30th September of the year in which he/she wants to be
admitted.
